Mental Clarity Through Qigong:Reconnect Mind and Body

Mingtong Gu

9 min read

Mental clarity in modern life requires shifting attention away from constant, stressful thinking loops and back into the body. Wisdom Healing Qigong offers a practical method: by connecting the mind with bodily sensation, visualizing infinite energy, and directly energizing the brain through movement and intention, practitioners can calm mental turbulence while simultaneously activating creativity, problem-solving capacity, and a deeper sense of purpose. Mingtong Gu, Qigong Master of the Year, teaches a simple hand-and-visualization practice that works anywhere, anytime, to interrupt stress-thought patterns and restore mental vitality.

Why is your mind constantly stressed and depleted?

The modern experience of mental stress is often invisible but relentless. As Mingtong Gu explains, the mind is "really constantly busy and thinking of different sorts," and "most of these sorts is really negative even depleting energy." The problem is not thinking itself, but the *quality* and *direction* of thought. Without intervention, the mind feeds itself a continuous stream of worry, rumination, and story that exhausts mental and physical resources.

This depletion happens because the mind operates in isolation—locked into conceptual loops—rather than integrated with the body's natural regulatory systems. The nervous system becomes chronically activated. Clarity becomes impossible not because the mind lacks capacity, but because it has disconnected from the body's grounding and regenerative potential.

How does connecting mind and body create calm?

The first principle of Wisdom Healing Qigong is deceptively simple: bring the mind home to the body. Rather than fighting stressful thoughts or trying to think them away, you redirect attention inward. As Gu puts it, "instead of always in the mental thinking process you allow the mind come back to into the body connecting with your heart connecting with the entire bodily and jerrick wholeness."

This redirection has immediate effects. When the mind returns to the body, it is no longer exclusively feeding the stress narrative. The body becomes a sanctuary—a more calm environment than the busy mental realm. Gu uses the metaphor of a vacation: "you're taking a vacation from busy sorts busy story especially stressful thoughts into a more calm environment inside of your body."

This is not dissociation or avoidance. Rather, you are accessing a different mode of knowing. The body is always present, always resourced, always capable of rest. By anchoring consciousness in bodily sensation—warmth, tingling, pressure, flow—you interrupt the stress loop and allow the nervous system to downregulate naturally. The mind, no longer driving itself, begins to rest and recharge.

What does it mean to use the mind to connect with energy?

The second layer moves beyond simple relaxation. Once the mind is anchored in the body, it can be trained to work with energy in a new way—not through story or concept, but through direct visualization and imagination. Gu teaches: "you're using learn to use the mind connecting with energy in certain way beyond story beyond comes cept."

The practice involves visualizing yourself as permeable to universal energy. Rather than holding a fixed sense of self, you imagine "the ocean of energy the infinite energy of the universe." By doing so, "you tap into not only the energy of the universe you also tap into the creativity of the universe the intelligence of the universe."

This is not wishful thinking. The brain's visualization circuits are real neural pathways. When you hold a coherent image of infinite energy, your consciousness begins to resonate with qualities associated with that image: expansiveness, creativity, connection, purpose. New insights arise. As Gu notes, "more inspiration more creative idea more connection with Heights the purpose of life able to arise in your mind your consciousness as well you know direct experience you can feel inside of your body."

The shift is from a mind locked in personal worry to a mind open to universal intelligence. Clarity emerges not from solving the problem mentally, but from accessing a different dimension of mind altogether.

How does Qigong directly recharge the brain?

The third approach works physiologically. The brain's function depends on energy and communication between its regions. Stress, chronic thinking, and mental fatigue compromise this integration. Gu explains: "the functioning of the mind yeah it's very closely related to the functioning of the brain so when the brain is just naturally gonna compromise the mental capacity mental function including creativity clear thinking."

Through Qigong practice, you connect directly with the brain's energy. By moving, visualizing, and directing attention to the brain, you accomplish two things simultaneously:

  • Rest from stress: You take a break from the patterns that exhaust the brain.
  • Awakening through energy: You consciously activate and integrate different brain regions—left, right, and central—allowing them to "function together as a heuristic brain."

When all parts of the brain work in concert, "mental capacity can be activated in a deeper level more creatively more importantly more fulfilling way more holistically approaching life." You do not just feel calmer; you gain access to deeper reserves of focus, intuition, and creative problem-solving.

What is the hands-and-light ball practice?

Mingtong Gu teaches a concrete, portable technique called the light-ball practice. It requires no equipment and can be done "anytime anyplace" in any comfortable position. Here is how it works:

Opening and closing phase: Place your hands in front of you at a comfortable distance. Slowly open and close your hands as if holding an invisible ball of light between your palms. As you open, visualize the ball of light expanding—"spending become bigger and bigger." As you close, imagine it condensing and brightening: "become clearer and brighter condensing."

Pay attention to what you feel in your hands, arms, and body. This sensory feedback grounds the practice and confirms that energy is responding to your intention.

Brain-directed phase: Continue the opening-and-closing movement, but now move your hands toward your face and head, palms facing the brain. Continue to visualize the light ball. As you open your hands, imagine the light "spending from the brain the interior brain expanding out." As you close, imagine gathering "from the infinity universe the lighter creativity gathering to bring penetrating deeper deeper dimension would be a brain left side and right side in the central brain."

You are essentially using your hands and imagination to create a feedback loop: visualizing energy flowing out and in through the brain, integrating all regions, awakening neural potential.

Expansion and integration: Let the visualization expand in all directions, as if the brain is opening like a flower and drawing in infinite light and creativity. Continue this rhythm—expanding outward to the universe, gathering and penetrating inward to deeper brain dimensions. Notice how the sensations shift. Feel the brain becoming "brighter and brighter inside of you."

Closure and anchoring: Gently close your eyes if comfortable. Allow your hands to move downward naturally, coming to rest on your navel (the energy center below the belly button). Place your hands there and feel the integration of all the energy you have gathered. Feel "sense of well-being sense of relaxation and energized same time."

What happens when you practice regularly?

Gu emphasizes that this is not a one-time exercise. The practice is meant to be repeated "open any time as many time as you want." With repetition, the benefits compound.

Immediately, you interrupt the stress-thought loop and shift into a parasympathetic state. Over time, several things unfold:

  • Mental clarity: The noise of constant thinking quiets. Your mind becomes spacious and clear enough to see situations from new angles.
  • Enhanced creativity: By connecting with the energy of the universe rather than the limitation of personal worry, creative solutions and inspirations arise more readily.
  • Better problem-solving: A calm, integrated brain naturally finds solutions that a stressed, fragmented brain cannot access.
  • Alignment with purpose: As mental static diminishes, a deeper sense of direction and meaning becomes perceptible.
  • Physical support for mental health: The brain "able to communicate with the entire body more effectively," so the whole system—nervous, endocrine, immune—supports mental resilience.

The practice is simple enough that it fits into daily life, yet sophisticated enough that serious practitioners can deepen it indefinitely. There is no barrier to entry. You do not need to believe anything; the sensations and clarity speak for themselves.

Why does this practice work when mental willpower fails?

Many people try to force their minds to be calm or clear by sheer will. This typically backfires. The harder you push, the more tension arises. Mingtong Gu's approach bypasses willpower entirely. Instead, it relies on what the body already knows: how to relax, how to integrate, how to access its own intelligence.

By using movement, visualization, and bodily sensation, you are not fighting the mind—you are giving it a home. You are not trying to suppress stress—you are offering a superior alternative. The mind naturally chooses the clearer, calmer, more creative state when it is available. The light-ball practice makes that state accessible in minutes.

This is why it works "anytime anyplace." You do not need a special environment, a therapist, or years of training. You need only attention, intention, and a willingness to come home to your body and to the infinite energy that sustains it.

Where to go from here

If mental clarity and creative capacity matter to you, this practice offers an immediate entry point. Begin with five to ten minutes of the light-ball exercise, focusing on the sensations and visualizations Mingtong Gu describes. Notice what shifts—in your energy, your mind's quality, your sense of ease.

As you become comfortable, extend the practice or repeat it multiple times a day. Each instance is a small vacation from stress and an opportunity to awaken deeper mental resources. Over weeks and months, as regular practice integrates into your life, the calm and clarity it generates will begin to persist even between practice sessions.

For those drawn to deeper work, the Chi Center offers online courses and retreats in Wisdom Healing Qigong. The principles remain the same: reconnect the mind with the body, access universal energy through visualization, and allow the brain's full potential to awaken. The result is not just a calmer mind, but a mind that is more creative, more resourceful, more aligned with what truly matters.

[0:07] hello welcome a masked minterm goo in

[0:11] this video I'm delighted to share with

[0:13] you how to use wisdom healing Qi Gong

[0:16] for mental clarity so I can often we

[0:22] recognize the stress in general in life

[0:26] including mental stress Oh mine is

[0:30] really constantly busy and thinking of

[0:35] different sorts most of these sauce is

[0:37] just for is really negative even

[0:41] depleting energy so how to change that

[0:45] condition is one of the key to create

[0:49] not only calm the mind but also creating

[0:53] mental clarity so one of the secret for

[1:00] Chacon is connecting the mind with your

[1:04] body instead of always in the mental

[1:08] thinking process you allow the mind come

[1:13] back to into the body connecting with

[1:15] your heart connecting with the entire

[1:18] bodily and jerrick wholeness in this

[1:22] process your mind is coming to home able

[1:26] to relax more rest more able to leave

[1:31] you itself like when you come back to

[1:34] home recharge yourself and that is one

[1:37] powerful way of regenerating your mind

[1:41] another way to put is like you're taking

[1:44] a vacation from busy sorts busy story

[1:48] especially stressful thoughts into a

[1:53] more calm environment inside of your

[1:57] body so the moment allow me to do that

[2:00] and the sound also help you to

[2:03] connecting with your heart connecting

[2:05] with the organ connecting energy inside

[2:08] of your body so the second aspect is

[2:12] you're using learn to use the mind

[2:15] connecting with energy in certain way

[2:18] beyond story beyond comes

[2:21] cept for example visualizing the ocean

[2:24] of energy the infinite energy of the

[2:27] universe by doing so you tap into not

[2:31] only the energy of the universe you also

[2:33] tap into the creativity of the universe

[2:36] the intelligence of the universe more

[2:40] inspiration more creative idea more

[2:43] connection with Heights the purpose of

[2:46] life able to arise in your mind your

[2:50] consciousness as well you know direct

[2:52] experience you can feel inside of your

[2:55] body

[2:56] so the second example and the third

[2:58] example is really about recharging your

[3:03] brain you know the functioning of the

[3:05] mind yeah it's very closely related to

[3:08] the functioning of the brain so when the

[3:11] brain is just naturally gonna compromise

[3:15] the mental capacity mental function

[3:18] including creativity clear thinking so

[3:23] in this case is by practicing Qigong

[3:26] you're connecting with the brain

[3:28] directly connecting with the energy of

[3:31] your body directly so you accessing the

[3:34] power inside of your brain on one hand

[3:37] is taking a break from stress for busy

[3:40] thoughts

[3:40] other hand is li awakening the energy

[3:45] here via brain leap connecting the left

[3:47] brain right brain from the back and also

[3:50] the central brain allow every party

[3:54] brain to function together as a

[3:56] heuristic brain naturally whatever

[3:59] mental capacity can be activated in a

[4:04] deeper level more creatively more

[4:06] importantly more fulfilling way more

[4:10] holistically approaching life so these

[4:13] are few examples gun can calm the mind

[4:17] create clarity mental clarity including

[4:22] creativity in your life problem-solving

[4:26] fulfilling your passion your purpose of

[4:29] life in general much more effectively

[4:32] I want to share very simple practice you

[4:35] can do anytime anyplace

[4:38] so it's kolache in this case we placing

[4:44] hands in front of you in comfortable

[4:46] position move your hands open and close

[4:50] so when open you imagine in visualizing

[4:54] the energy expanding like both like

[4:56] spending become bigger and bigger then

[4:59] close imagining the bow of light become

[5:03] clearer and brighter condensing and

[5:06] you'll appear in this movement start to

[5:09] feel certain sensation of your hands

[5:13] even your arms even your entire body and

[5:16] you continue concentrate by imagining

[5:20] visualizing the spotlight

[5:32] then you continue this movement by

[5:35] moving hand towards your brain using

[5:38] your hands facing the brain but same

[5:41] time your margin in visualizing this

[5:44] light ball like spending from the brain

[5:48] the interior brain expanding out then

[5:51] gathering from the infinity universe the

[5:55] lighter creativity gathering to bring

[5:59] penetrating deeper deeper dimension

[6:02] would be a brain left side and right

[6:04] side in the central brain so long then

[6:08] continue expanding the like spending to

[6:12] all direction then gathering penetrating

[6:18] energizing every savvy brain the deeper

[6:24] dimension where neurons nerve system

[6:29] subtle energy of your brain continuously

[6:32] awakening opening as above like spending

[6:36] out to the universe then gathering

[6:40] penetrating for me inside view you can

[6:46] gently close your eye continuously move

[6:51] your hands comfortably imagining this

[6:55] rising this ball like spending to all

[6:58] direction then Kadri in the light

[7:03] penetrating permeating to the deeper

[7:07] dimension of your brain can brighter and

[7:11] brighter inside of you inside the brain

[7:15] now opening expanding into attraction

[7:23] gathering penetrating energizing

[7:28] awakening all functioning of your brain

[7:34] opening expanding thus polite your

[7:39] direction then gathering

[7:45] penetrating the burn deeper the holding

[7:51] hand relaxing your hands shoulder arms

[7:58] relaxing your brain noticing the

[8:03] sensations feeling inside of you in

[8:12] continuously playfully and smari into

[8:16] your brain feel sink visualizing happy

[8:23] healthy encouraging a wise brain inside

[8:28] of you

[8:34] now slowly moving hands down comfortably

[8:40] in front of you and placing on top your

[8:45] naval centering gathering integrating

[9:01] slowly open your hand move your body

[9:06] feeling again you can do this practice

[9:14] open any time as many time as you want

[9:19] so by doing there you're automatically

[9:22] taking a break from busy stressful

[9:25] thoughts and same time you're energizing

[9:29] your brain same time connecting the

[9:32] brain with energy with the entire body

[9:35] so the body can support in the brain as

[9:39] well the brain able to communicate with

[9:42] the entire body more effectively so

[9:46] mentally you feel more energized calm

[9:50] and spacious clearer and more creative

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Rather than fighting the thoughts, Wisdom Healing Qigong teaches you to redirect your mind's attention back into your body. By connecting with bodily sensation and visualizing energy, you create a 'vacation' from the stress narrative. The body is naturally calmer than the busy thinking mind, and anchoring awareness there interrupts the stress cycle and allows the nervous system to downregulate.
The light-ball practice involves holding your hands in front of you and opening and closing them while visualizing a ball of light expanding as you open and condensing as you close. You then move this visualization toward your brain, imagining the light flowing into and out of different brain regions. Finally, you gather the energy at your navel. The practice takes just minutes and can be done anywhere.
Yes. Visualization activates real neural pathways in the brain. When you hold a coherent image of infinite energy and direct it toward your brain, you are simultaneously giving your mind a break from stress and consciously awakening different brain regions—left, right, and central—so they function together more effectively. The sensations you feel confirm that the practice is working.
Positive thinking tries to replace negative thoughts with good ones—a mental effort that often increases tension. Connecting with the body bypasses the thinking mind altogether. Instead of fighting thoughts, you give your mind a home in sensation, relaxation, and presence. From that calmer state, insights and clarity naturally arise without forcing them.
When you visualize yourself as permeable to infinite energy rather than isolated and limited, your consciousness shifts from a narrow, worried perspective to an expansive one. This shift is not magical—it is neurological. A mind aligned with expansion naturally accesses creativity, intelligence, and purpose that a contracted, stressed mind cannot access. You experience this shift directly through the sensations that arise.
You can practice anytime and as often as you wish. Even a single five-to-ten-minute session will calm your mind and clarify your thinking. Regular practice—several times a week or daily—deepens the benefits. Over time, the calm and clarity from practice begin to persist between sessions, so your baseline mental state gradually improves.
No. Wisdom Healing Qigong is a complementary practice for mental clarity and well-being, not a medical treatment. If you experience significant mental health challenges, please consult with a healthcare professional. This practice is best used alongside conventional care to support overall well-being and stress resilience.
