Doctor-led Ayurvedic clinic in Kangra, Himalayas — Panchakarma and personalized healing
In 2006, two newly graduated Ayurvedic doctors felt restless. Their classroom education had given them foundation, but something essential was missing. For two years they travelled across India, learning from experienced practitioners in villages and from traditional healers living close to nature—wisdom that rarely appears in textbooks. By 2010, after completing postgraduate degrees, Dr. J.P. Guleria and Dr. Vibhor Sharma shared a clear dream: to build a place where Ayurveda could be practiced with sincerity, rooted in classical knowledge, enriched by experience, and thoughtfully adapted to modern life.
They chose uncertainty over the security of government jobs and corporate hospitals. In 2012, HimVeda began in a single room in Dharamshala, Kangra, with no plans beyond sincere intention. One patient became another; one room became several. What humbled the founders most was the trust people placed in them—patients came from nearby villages, across Himachal Pradesh, across India, and eventually from around the world. Their faith encouraged deeper exploration of Ayurvedic principles, especially the understanding of gunas, the qualities that shape both health and disease.
As the clinic expanded, another dream emerged: to create a healing space closer to nature. In 2018, the founders purchased land where HimVeda stands today. Construction paused during the pandemic, tested their patience, and finally reopened in 2023. The clinic now operates from two locations: a city office near the International Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala, and a residential facility in Village Tangroti, where patients can undertake medically supervised Panchakarma and structured lifestyle correction.
Dr. Guleria, with over two decades of clinical and academic work, focuses on conditions that resist standard treatment—chronic respiratory disorders, gastrointestinal disease, interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, and pancreatitis. His clinical framework looks beyond diagnosis names to understand the nature of what is happening inside the body. Dr. Sharma, a Panchakarma specialist and international educator, oversees the therapeutic integrity of treatments, grounding every decision in classical protocol while adapting it to the individual. He has worked to bridge classical Sanskrit knowledge with evidence-based modern reasoning.
Today, despite everything that has changed, the founders remain students—of Ayurveda, of nature, of the people who trust them with their stories. Their mission remains simple: to help people heal through authentic Ayurveda while making its timeless wisdom practical, understandable, and relevant to modern life without losing its essence.
