Riverfront Retreat

In winter, the vaulted Greatroom at Riverfront Retreat looks out through huge windows at the Buffalo River, which the property describes as crystal clear. The house stands at 4110 E. Rainbow Road in Island Park, Idaho, in forest on the riverbank, about 30 miles from Yellowstone.

Keith and Caryn Esplin own the place, and the site invites guests to call or text Caryn directly to book. It is offered in three configurations. The largest is the entire lodge: 5,110 square feet across both floors, with six bedrooms and 17 beds, 4.5 baths, three kitchen and dining rooms, three family rooms and two laundry rooms. Covered decks run along the river side, and a 14 by 8 foot swim spa and hot tub sits outside.

The second option is the upper floor alone. It is 3,000 square feet with a private entrance, six bedrooms with 17 beds, four baths, two kitchen and dining rooms and two family rooms. The site calls it a year-round lodge in mountain-modern decor and suggests it for office retreats, helped by high-speed fiber internet, as well as for family getaways. The third is the Yellowstone Apartment, 1,340 square feet and private, with two suites and eight beds, two baths, a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen. A Sawtelle Balcony Suite and a combination with the apartment also appear among the reservation options.

The riverfront is shared among the options and is private to guests. It has a dock, loungers, a firepit, grills and tables, with kayaks and canoes in the warm months and snowshoes in winter. There is room to park snowmobile and boat trailers. The pages describe a place to stay and gather by the river, and they list no scheduled programs or teachers.
